In the words of famed author and motivational speaker Leo Buscaglia, A single rose can be my garden…a single friend, my world.

On April 3 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Dotties House, a transitional housing facility designed to aid women and children who have survived domestic abuse, will be taking that sentiment to heart when it holds its Secret Garden Gala at Doolans Shore Club in Spring Lake.

Only, there will be many roses and more importantly, many friends. The intimate gala dinner is being held to honor this years awardees, Shawn Michaels and Sue Moll, otherwise known as Shawn & Sue, the co-hosts of 92.7 WOBMs popular morning show, The Ocean County Breakfast Show, for their efforts to support the mission of Dotties House.

In keeping with the theme of the night, each table will also feature its very own secret garden, a beautifully crafted floral centerpiece donated by Tom Addalia and his company, Flowers by Addalia, a longtime supporter of Dotties House.

Domestic abuse is more far-reaching than many of us realize, and is beginning to more often directly affect our adolescents, says Dotties House Executive Director and Founder Carol A. Wolfe.

Wolfe states that according to statistics, one in three youths in the United States is a victim of domestic violence.
Every day we are committed to working to stop violence in personal and intimate relationships. More importantly, we continue to seek to educate young people, and by doing so, help to put an end to violence in relationships before it starts.

Since 1999, Dotties House has worked tirelessly to end the cycle of violence for women and children by helping them transition to become self-sufficient after leaving their abuser. The organization has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Violence Against Women, as one of only two programs of its kind in the Country.

Tickets to attend the gala are $125 per person, or $200 per couple, which will include an open bar, hors doeuvres and full dinner. Doolans Shore Club is located at 700 Rt. 71, Spring Lake Heights.
