Freehold, NJ – The Sunrise Optimist Club of Freehold will be sponsoring its annual Kylie Pinheiro Memorial Hot Shot Basketball Tournament, Sunday, March 8 at the YMCA of Western Monmouth County, 470 East Freehold Road. This exciting event is open to girls and boys in grades 4 through 9 and includes t-shirts for all participants and trophies for first, second and third place winners.

There is a $5.00 registration fee for participants, which includes a specially designed Hot Shot t-shirt. Trophies will be awarded to the first, second and third place boys and girls in each age group. Contests for girls in grades 4 through 9 are scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM. Contests for boys in fourth and fifth grade start at 2:00 PM, boys in sixth and seventh grade are scheduled to play at 3:00 PM, and boys in grades 8 and 9 compete at 3:30 PM. All entrants are required to arrive one half hour before scheduled starting times.

The tournament is just one of the hands-on activities sponsored annually by the Sunrise Optimists. According to Board member Frank Dalotto, The event offers an enjoyable fun-filled day for children in the area. Proceeds from the event go directly to support the numerous programs for children that the Sunrise Optimists sponsor, including Camp Quality New Jersey, a camping experience and year round support program for children with cancer.
