The Sunrise Optimist Club of Freehold will be presenting four graduating high school seniors from around Central New Jersey with four scholarships, it has been announced today. Each winner will be receiving $1000 from the club.

Freehold Township High School student Victoria Diaz will be receiving The Joseph Salkin Memorial. The scholarship is named after and made possible by the late Joseph Alexander Salkin of Freehold Township, formerly the owner of Salkins Jewel Case, as well as a longtime public servant and former president of the Sunrise Optimist Club.

Caludia MacRae, of Manalapan, will be receiving The Peter J. Saker Memorial Scholarship. Jamison Gould, of Allentown, will be receiving the Ray Favocci Memorial Scholarship.

And lastly, Jhoana Cortez, of Howell, will be honored with The Special Recognition Award.

The Sunrise Optimist Club of Freehold thoroughly participates in a number of projects and initiatives throughout each year involving community service, fundraising, and supporting children locally and globally, including its Stock Market Contest, Pinheiro Memorial Hot Shot Basketball Tournament, and its Oratorical Contest.

Its a community service organization dedicated to serving, aiding and encouraging community youth. The club is part of Optimist International, a worldwide volunteer organization made up of more than 2,500 local clubs whose members work each day to make the future brighter by bringing out the best in children, in their communities and in themselves.
