Saturday December 3 turned out to be a gorgeous day for the first annual Historic Holmdel house tour! 60+ people enjoyed visiting the Holmdel Community UCC, the village of Holmdel where they saw a former harness factory, Dr. Cooke’s office from 1823, the Samuel Ogborne House from 1740, and the 1699 Kouvenhoven house. Some of the comments:

“I never knew that about Holmdel and I have lived here all my life.”

“Carl Zellers is a font of information about the Village … what it was and what it is.”

“The church was beautiful and the organ playing was great.”

“I felt like I was back in the 16th century with the wonderful period dressing by the church people.”

Next year’s event will be on Saturday, December 2, from 11 am to 4 pm and will feature more of Holmdel’s wonderful historic properties.

Net proceeds from this event went to Sylvia’s Children, a non-profit working to improve the lives of 1200+ children (25% of whom are orphans) in Uganda.

Many sponsors made this event possible and special thanks go to THE JOURNAL PUBLICATIONS and the HOLMDEL KIWANIS. Thank you both for your wonderful support of Sylvia’s Children.

Best wishes for a very Merry Christmas and joyous holiday season!
