The Freehold Sunrise Optimist Foundation will once again host its Carmen J. Rivello Friend of Youth Golf Classic, its annual charity golf tournament, on Monday, May 22.

The annual golf outing will take place at the Knob Hill Golf Club (1 Shinnecock Drive) in Manalapan Township, well known as New Jerseys premier semi-private golf club boasting spectacular greens.

The charity event, held each year by the Sunrise Optimist Foundation, benefits Camp Quality New Jersey, which provides a week-long camping experience and year-round support programs for children living with cancer at no cost to the families.

Companions and program and activity staff at Camp Quality New Jersey work side by side to encourage children to try their hand at new activities and challenges that allow them to leave their comfort zones in an attempt to build emotional strength and life skills.

The Golf Classic will start at 7 a.m. with a continental breakfast, continuing at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start scramble format, and followed at 1 p.m. with a luncheon and awards ceremony.

Prizes will include: hole in one, longest drive, closest to the pin, prizes on every par 3, a putting contest, and more.

The entry fee is $180, which includes greens fee, cart, player gift, and breakfast and awards luncheon. The fee to attend the awards luncheon only is $55.

The Sunrise Optimist Club of Freehold is a community service organization dedicated to serving, aiding and encouraging community youth, and to developing optimism as a philosophy of life. The Sunrise Optimist Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization.
