Holmdel, NJ – Sylvia Allen, President of Allen Consulting, has been selected by Garden State Magazine as the Garden State Women Entrepreneur Of The Year. She will be honored at luncheon on January 26. Garden State Woman Magazine created the award to recognize exceptional woman in New Jersey. Ms. Allen successfully leads one of the country’s top marketing firms in the field of sports and special events.

In business for 29 years, Ms. Allen brings a wealth of experience to each and every project. Recognized as a leader in the marketing and public relations industry, Ms. Allen has written and delivered over a thousand seminars on marketing and sponsorship throughout the world. She is a published author having written four books, the most recent being A WOMAN’S GUIDE TO SALES SUCCESS.

Ms. Allen is one of the six founders of Women in Sports and Events; she also founded the Vail International Multi-Image Festival; she is on the Board of Directors of First Night International; she developed a sports, entertainment and events marketing program for Rutgers; she was president of her church choir and on Session at First Presbyterian Church in Red Bank; she currently sings in the choir at the Holmdel Community United Church of Christ. In addition to all this, Ms. Allen finds time to mentor thousands of students from her previous classes at New York University and Brookdale College.

Ms. Allen also formed Sylvia’s Children, a non-profit 501@3 organization that is providing support to children in Africa who have been orphaned by AIDS. She visited Africa three years ago and was so upset by the devastation caused by AIDS that she took action and formed her own non-profit that has succeeded, so far, in providing all the schooling, food, lodging and educational support for 100 orphans at the Mbiriizi Primary School. She is planning a return trip in June.

Last year Ms. Allen was inducted into the International Festival and Events Association Hall of Fame and most recently received the ATHENA Award from the Western Monmouth Chamber of Commerce.
